EPSA 2017 Awards

30 European countries and several EU institutions and agencies demonstrate new solutions to societal challenges

8 May 2017

Dear EPSA friends,

As you all know, leading-edge projects from Europe’s public sector could be submitted to the EPSA 2017 until Monday, 1st May. The EPSA 2017 Team at EIPA is thus pleased to announce that 30 different European countries and several EU institutions and agencies followed our invitation to submit their most innovative solutions to the current and complex challenges our societies are facing. This year’s edition, which is taking place under the overarching theme “An Innovative Public Sector in 2017: New Solutions to Complex Challenges”, received contributions ranging from areas such as migration and integration, social welfare and employment policies, e-health, entrepreneurship and social innovation, security, open government and transparency as well as environmental policy and climate change.

For this EPSA edition, you could submit your projects under three different administrative categories, i.e. European and National, Regional or Supra-local and Local. The top submitters were Austria, Portugal, Spain, and Poland respectively.

We would like to thank all applicants warmly for having sent us their achievements and for making this edition another EPSA success!

I have submitted a project: What are the next steps?

All eligible applications will now be assessed online by independent experts, who will then meet mid-June in Maastricht for a consensus meeting to agree on the best practice certificate recipients and a shortlist of projects, which might become nominees and/or winners and which will be visited onsite. All applicants who are among these two groups will be notified at the end of June.

The EPSA 2017 Evaluation Process

The onsite visits will take place from July to early September to verify the evaluation results and, at the end of September, a high-level international jury will take the final decision on the nominees and the award winners. All nominated projects (and thus potential EPSA 2017 winners) will be notified by us at the end of September.

The prize-winners, nominees and best practice certificate recipients will be presented during a high-level final event and award ceremony taking place at various venues in Maastricht (NL) on 20 to 22 November 2017. EIPA will cover the costs of one representative per nominee delegation for this celebratory event. It should be noted that this event is also open to all other submitters who are most welcome to attend and to learn from each other. Save the dates!

Yours sincerely,
